Professor Chih-Ming Liang Visits Japan for Academic Exchange on Medical Error and Patient Safety Law in the United States, Taiwan, and Japan
[Hiroshima, Japan] Professor Chih-Ming Liang from the Graduate Institute of Medical and Biotech Law at Taipei Medical University (TMU) attended the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Comparative Law Society at Hiroshima University on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Professor Liang participated as a panelist in the workshop, “Comparative Medical Error/Safety Law in the U.S., Taiwan, and Japan,” held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The session brought together leading scholars and experts, including Professor William Sage (Texas A&M University), Dr. Ryotaro Kato (President of IMS Itabashi Central Hospital), and Professor Ryoko Hatanaka (Shobi University), to exchange perspectives on medical negligence and patient safety regulation in the three jurisdictions. The discussion highlighted Taiwan’s active engagement in and meaningful contribution to the global dialogue on medical law and patient safety.
